Thank you for your interest in adopting a Training Rescue Dogs, Inc. dog. Presently our adoption area is limited to the Baltimore/Washington DC/Northern Virginia areas. If you are outside of these areas, please do not apply. Email us and we will be happy to help you find a rescue that might be more local to you.

Our focus is "trained" on the dogs who need training in order to find their "furever" homes. These dogs, through no fault of their own, are passed over by other rescues due to undesirable but easily correctable behavioral challenges. In most cases, TRD is their last hope. The majority of our dogs will have a clause addressing mandatory training, sometimes with a specific trainer. Please understand that this is by no means a reflection of your capabilities, but more of a desire to see our dogs succeed. As we grow, we will be expanding our list of approved trainers, and unless we can approve a trainer in your specific area, this may mean that you will have to travel for your mandatory sessions. Many times, the preliminary training with an adopter can be accomplished in a few sessions, and then you would be free to use a trainer in your area. For those dogs that might need some additional work, required sessions may be closer to 8 - 10.

If you have any questions about this policy, we encourage you to email our Adoption Team at adopt-foster@trainingrescues.org. Our adoption fee varies and we encourage you to check out our Adoption Process page. With the exception of spay/neutering for young puppies, all Training Rescue Dogs are microchipped, vaccinated, and surgically altered prior to adoption. Again, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are an all volunteer organization and do our best to respond to any inquiries within 24 hours. Thank you.
